A proposed redesign of Fastcompany.com

Challenge:

To connect the design of fastcompany.com more closely to Fast Company magazine and fastcodesign.com.

 

Process:

My role as UI/UX designer was to collaborate with the an agency, the executive editor, editorial staff, developers, business stakeholders to propose a new site design.

 

Features:

– The day-to-day navigation at the bottom of the site was similar to magazine spines; the colored bars in the footer represented a ‘library’ of magazine issues (one for each day)

– Save-for-later functionality to allow readers to ‘dog-ear’ articles which could be sent to Pocket or other offline reader

– Larger imagery to reflect emphasis on imagery in magazine

– Special feature wells

 

Result:

With the close collaboration of an outside agency, the fastcompany.com website was launched.
